4. Elizabeth Olsen thrived when placed under WandaVision’s heavy focus

As beloved as the Scarlet Witch was by comic book fans, the Marvel Cinematic Universe hadn’t really given its version of Wanda the exposure she deserved. We now know that was simply down to the fact that they were saving all of that for WandaVision.

Focusing on Wanda’s response to losing Vision, the show was a whirlwind of madness that kept us confused for most of its run. However, it was also a whirlwind of Elizabeth Olsen because she took on every single one of those mixed emotions that Wanda was feeling and turned it into something truly mesmerizing.

Marvel Comics fans always knew the potential that Wanda Maximoff had and it was clear that Elizabeth Olsen was full of that same potential. WandaVision finally capitalized on it by giving her more screen-time, more scope and more spotlight and she absolutely excelled in every way.

3. She was a witty leading lady in an excellent sitcom

One of WandaVision‘s most appealing aspects was how impossible it was to actually pin down the genre it belonged to. Yes, it’s primarily a comic book property that is spun-off from the biggest superhero franchise in the world, but it’s also a sitcom, dark comedy, fantasy drama, romcom and occasional horror.

The most overriding genre of them all was probably the former as the majority of WandaVision‘s early episodes were inspired by sitcoms from different decades. So, once again to match the ever-changing needs of the program, Elizabeth Olsen essentially transformed into the leading lady of a classic sitcom, taking her cues from Elizabeth Montgomery and Barbara Eden.

Just as those stars turned in award-worthy performances in Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie, Olsen captivated us with her sensational turn here. It was like nothing she had ever done in her career before and it still felt so effortless for her, as she transported us to different time periods with ease, making us all wish that the fictional version of WandaVision that Darcy Lewis loved watching was real.
