Blade will usher in a new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and now the studio has found the director who will bring it to life.

With experimental TV shows on Disney Plus like WandaVision and Loki already allowing Marvel Studios to venture into new and unexplored territories, it’s clear that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a state of change. However, the upcoming Blade promises to open the MCU up in a way that we haven’t seen from the decade-old franchise yet.

With Mahershala Ali set to play the titular role, Blade will bring vampires into the shared universe of superheroes and reboot the classic movie franchise that once starred Wesley Snipes. Though not much is known about the Phase Four movie yet, the man behind the camera has now been revealed.

Who is directing Blade?

As revealed by DeadlineMogul Mowgli‘s Bassam Tariq has been chosen by Marvel Studios to direct Blade. The report states that the studio was involved in a thorough search and met a slew of talent before selecting Tariq.

The deal is not completely done yet but the director is in talks to helm the project, with Stacy Osei-Kuffour set to pen the script and Kevin Feige, of course, onboard as the producer.

The movie was announced at 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con event as part of Marvel Studios’ much-anticipated revelations in regards to the fourth phase of the MCU. While the movie remains the most mysterious of the Phase Four offerings, we do know that Mahershala Ali will be the one to portray the iconic vampire hunter.

With a writer and director now seemingly secured, things are starting to move forward for the highly-anticipated MCU movie.
