Here is everything you need to know about The Flash season 8, including its release date, its casting, trailers, news and more.

The Flash is one of the longest-running superhero shows on TV today. The oldest series in The CW’s Arrowverse, it started as an Arrow spin-off way back in 2014 and it has gone on to become one of the most popular TV shows of our time.

The seventh season wrapped its run back in July. A season of two halves (with an intermission in the middle), it was split into two “graphic novels”, with the first half tackling the Forces of Nature storyline (that saw the Four Flash Forces get into conflict with each other) and the second half dealing with the war waged in Central City by multiple versions of Godspeed. And the adventures will continue for the show in the near future as The Flash has been renewed for an eighth season.

There has been much discussion and anticipation surrounding season 8 of the veteran series, with news and rumors already starting to swirl in regards to its plot.

Below, you’ll find all the up-to-date information you need about The Flash season 8, its premiere on The CW, its cast, any trailers and more.

The Flash season 8 premiere date

The Flash season 8 will premiere on The CW on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. It will air alongside new episodes of Riverdale.

As it’s unlikely that the show will be able to produce a full season this year, there will only be five episodes airing in the fall. However, in order to make those installments count, the show will be producing a “five episode event” that will feature different heroes from the CWVerse/Arrowverse, giving them a crossover flavor.

The Flash season 8 cast

The Flash will be heading into eighth year now and even though there will be some changes, you will definitely recognize the heavy-hitters that remain. At the seven year mark, certain cast members had to negotiate a new contract in order to return and the good news is that original cast members Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker and Jesse L. Martin will be back for season 8.

Meanwhile, unless anything major happens to Cecile, Allegra or Chester, we should expect to see Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight all return as well.

The sad news is that original Flash cast members Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh have departed as series regulars and won’t be returning in a full-time capacity. Here’s hoping we see plenty of guest appearances from them because Central City isn’t the same without Cisco Ramon or a Harrison Wells!

The question is: Will Jessica Parker Kennedy or Jordan Fisher return as Nora West-Allen/XS and Bart Allen/Impulse? And it certainly wouldn’t be The Flash without an appearance from John Wesley Shipp’s Jay Garrick.

As of writing, here are the expected cast members for The Flash season 8:

  • Grant Gustin – Barry Allen/The Flash
  • Candice Patton – Iris West-Allen
  • Danielle Panabaker – Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost
  • Danielle Nicolet – Cecile Horton
  • Kayla Compton – Allegra Garcia
  • Brandon McKnight – Chester P. Runk
  • Jesse L. Martin – Joe West

The Flash season 8 trailer

The first trailer for The Flash season 8 was releasing in the days after DC FanDome and it is, of course, centred around the “Armageddon” crossover event. Watch it below:

What is The Flash season 8 about?

Plot details for The Flash season 8 have yet to be unveiled. However, it seems like the show will once again be splitting its storylines up across the season, particularly because it allows the writers to put a “five-episode event” full of potential crossovers together before the season’s primary storyline presumably kicks off in spring 2022.

Rumors have suggested that season 8 is the show’s final season but there has yet to be any official confirmation of that and Grant Gustin did previously confirm that he was once in the process of extending his contract up to season 9. If it is the final season though, expect the Scarlet Speedster and his team to go out in a huge way.
