Ms. Marvel: 5 reasons to get excited for the Disney Plus show
By Mark Lynch
S.W.O.R.D.
S.W.O.R.D. (the Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division) was a huge part of WandaVision – the series where Monica Rambeau made her first appearance as an adult in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Kamala Khan’s powers coming from the race of people called the Inhumans (who we’ll discuss next) in the comics, there is a chance that we could see Monica and S.W.O.R.D. in Ms. Marvel.
S.W.O.R.D. should absolutely make an appearance here. If Kamala’s powers do come from an alien source, it makes sense that they might appear, particularly since Captain Marvel’s powers are from a source from space.
We also haven’t seen S.W.O.R.D. in a while. Having them appear in this show would definitely fit considering they could be involved in The Marvels.
Inhumans
And, speaking of how Ms. Marvel got her powers, we come to the Inhumans: A race that receives their powers from the Terrigan Mist – a process that only works on beings with Inhuman blood. Sometimes, they’re looked at as the strongest beings in Marvel Comics. We saw some of them in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and they looked very good there. The problem is we also saw them in the short-lived ABC show Inhumans. The good news is this could be a fresh start for them.
Inhumans was a massive failure. It’s rare that you’ll find anyone who has a lot of positive things to say about it. Nonetheless, there is always a chance for redemption. Anson Mount (Black Bolt) and Iwan Rheon (Maximus) should not be replaced. They were great. The issues come from the script in general.
Ms. Marvel could give the Inhumans a chance at redemption. Without the pressure of being the center of attention, they have a chance to succeed. If they do appear, hopefully they will thrive. One thing is certain though: Ms. Marvel definitely will.
