X-Men: Henry Cavill stuns as Cyclops in jaw-dropping image

Fans are eager to see the X-Men debut in the MCU and Henry Cavill looks nothing short of epic in this image as the long-time X-Men leader, Cyclops.

The X-Men will soon be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A timeline for when exactly this will be remains unclear, but we know it’s only a matter of time before Marvel finally calls upon the roster of X-Men heroes and villains — especially after mutants were finally introduced in the MCU via the Ms. Marvel finale! 

Then there is the fact that Deadpool 3 is set to bring Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine with rumors swirling he won’t be the only legacy character to return to the MCU. While it’s exciting to think of more former X-Men actors returning to the mix, there is still a mystery of when new actors will be introduced to play the biggest roles in the X-Men franchise.

When the time comes for the X-Men to make their debut in the MCU, it’s undeniable that there are certain characters more likely to be among the first wave — after all, we can’t imagine Marvel leaving the franchise’s most iconic characters on the bench.

Among those expected to be included in the first wave of X-Men heroes introduced in the MCU is one of the team’s long-time leaders, Scott Summers aka Cyclops. As an original member of the X-Men team, we’re all but certain Cyclops will be front and center as the X-Men arrive in the MCU. The biggest mystery is who exactly will play him in the MCU.

There are a lot of great actors who could play the role, including one actor who has already taken the comic book genre by storm: Henry Cavill.

What Henry Cavill could look like as Cyclops in the MCU

As speculation about Henry Cavill potentially coming to the MCU continues, digital artist Samukarts created a stunning edit envisioning Cavill in full costume as Cyclops.

In the jaw-dropping concept art, Cavill trades in Superman’s cape for Cyclops’ iconic visor in drawing inspiration from the character’s most iconic costume. The vibrant colors perfectly accentuate his heroic presence, while the sleek design highlights his muscular physique.

Although Cavill’s face is mostly covered due to the nature of the character’s costume, there is no denying he looks absolutely incredible as Cyclops with the concept art making a strong argument for why Cavill should play the leader of the X-Men when it comes time to introduce the X-Men team into the MCU.

Now that the MCU has introduced mutants, there’s no telling when they might finally begin entering the fold. We can only hope that when the time finally comes, Henry Cavill is on hand to join the mix be it as Cyclops or another hero from the X-Men comics.

Is Henry Cavill playing Cyclops in the MCU?

Currently, it is not known whether Henry Cavill will be playing Cyclops in the MCU, but it does appear Marvel has an interest in bringing Cavill over from the DC Extended Universe to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe after DC chose to drop him.

Cavill was said to have visited the Marvel offices in London back in 2021 to have conversations with brass about the potential to join the MCU. While the specifics of the meeting between Cavill’s team and the Marvel brass remain unconfirmed, it was said the meeting was part of efforts from Marvel to bring Cavill into the MCU.

Shortly after Cavill’s rumored meeting with Marvel, he returned to the DCEU with an appearance in Black Adam. It was announced shortly after that he would be returning as Superman in the DCEU, but that decision was quickly reversed when James Gunn and Peter Safran were tapped as the new heads of DC Studios.

The decision to bring in a new Superman actor has made Cavill a free agent once again and rumors are running rampant regarding Cavill joining the MCU.

While Marvel has not yet confirmed whether they’ve cast Cavill, his name has been tossed around in association with several key characters including Cyclops, Wolverine, Captain Britain, Mr. Fantastic, and more. Now that DC has burned that bridge in parting ways with Cavill, the door is wide open for Marvel to act upon the meetings they had by finally bringing him into the MCU.

Has Henry Cavill expressed any interest in joining the MCU?

Although Cavill hasn’t discussed Marvel directly in more recent months, he has expressed an interest in joining the MCU in the past. In fact, he’s even expressed direct interest in playing one particular Marvel character: Captain Britain!

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill revealed he isn’t quite interested in playing any character that has already been played by someone else and would rather explore a modernized version of Captain Britain.

"“I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else … because everyone’s doing such an amazing job. However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.”"

Given we haven’t seen Captain Britain in the MCU, the door is open for Cavill to still play the character should Marvel look to introduce him. It’s also possible Cavill could take on another Marvel character who hasn’t appeared in the MCU just yet such as Wolverine or Cyclops.
