Black Panther star to play Batman in new upcoming DC project
Black Panther’s Winston Duke is set to portray Bruce Wayne in an audio podcast drama, Batman Unburied, helmed by The Dark Knight scribe David S. Goyer.
Winston Duke is no stranger to the superhero genre. The star is known to Marvel Cinematic Universe fans for portraying M’Baku in the Ryan Coogler-directed film Black Panther as well as the Russo Bros’ MCU follow-ups Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Now, however, he makes his presence felt in a DC project.
As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Duke is set to voice DC’s iconic superhero and billionaire socialite Bruce Wayne in the podcast Batman Unburied for Spotify. The podcast is helmed by The Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel screenwriter, David S. Goyer. The official synopsis reads:
"“When audiences meet Bruce Wayne he is a forensic pathologist, working in the bowels of Gotham Hospital and tasked with examining the victims of The Harvester, a gruesome serial killer preying on Gotham’s citizens. Not only will the superhero be forced to face his own mental demons, but he will also have to overcome them in order to save the citizens of Gotham as his alter-ego, Batman.”"
When is Batman Unburied released?
At present, there aren’t many details as to when fans can expect the audio drama to arrive. We do know, however, another member of the cast and that is Harry Potter actor Jason Issacs – who will play The Bat’s loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth. As of yet, no other casting announcements have been made but the project has been described as a podcast within the psychological-thriller genre that digs into the psyche of Bruce Wayne with twists and turns revolving around The Dark Knight’s rogues gallery.
