Insomniac Games have officially revealed a sneak peek at Spider-Man 2, while also revealing the villain of the game.

PlayStation announced a number of exciting new games, as well as unveiling new footage for upcoming games for the PS5, during their PlayStation Showcase event. While Marvel fans were treated to a number of exciting trailers, including an announcement of a Wolverine game and more footage from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the biggest news was arguably in relation to everyone’s Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

While Insomniac Games is also working on the aforementioned Wolverine game, the announcement of Spider-Man 2 was the most exciting reveal from the event, with the short release providing fans with many details about the upcoming sequel to the highly successful 2018 game.

Venom arrives in trailer for Spider-Man 2

The trailer is a showcase of Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and Miles Morales (who was the main character in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales), as the two characters will be playable in the game and may even be switchable in combat and gameplay. A narrator seems to be talking to the heroes throughout the trailer, with many predicting the voice belongs to famous villain Kraven the Hunter.

More from Marvel

Kraven was surprisingly absent from both instalments in the franchise thus far, even though the Sinister Six appeared as antagonists in Marvel’s Spider-Man. While the character is not officially shown here, it is speculated that the famous hunter will be making an appearance after that apparent voiceover.

However, that is not even the biggest reveal of the trailer. As the narration ends, the two heroes stare off into the distance and it is revealed they are staring at none other than Venom, who is hiding in the shadows. Venom has been teased throughout the post-credits scenes of both games, with the scenes indicating that the host of Venom will be Harry Osborn rather than Eddie Brock.

Venom is voiced menacingly by Candyman’s Tony Todd, while both Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter are set to reprise their roles as Parker and Morales respectively. The game is set to release on the PlayStation 5 in 2023, with the wait sure to feel like an eternity for many diehard Spidey fans.
