Clint Barton returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Hawkeye, so here’s everything you need to know about the Disney Plus series.

Having played Clint Barton/Hawkeye since 2011’s Thor, Jeremy Renner is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s longest-standing stars. A supporting role, the character’s story has evolved over time as we discovered that he knew Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow before he ultimately joined the Avengers and became one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

But the archer will return to screens, debuting on the small one in his own self-titled Disney Plus series – one that is expected to arrive sooner than we originally anticipated.

Below, you’ll find all the up-to-date information you need about Hawkeye, its premiere on Disney Plus, its cast, any trailers and more.

Hawkeye release date

Hawkeye season 1 will premiere on Disney Plus on November 24, 2021. Originally expected for release in 2022, recent reports confirm that it will arrive in the fall of this year instead.

Production began in December 2020 in New York City and carried on until its conclusion in April 2021. Additional photography took place in Atlanta, Georgia.

Hawkeye cast

Hawkeye will see Jeremy Renner reprise his MCU role as Clint Barton, marking his first appearance since the groundbreaking Avengers: Endgame. He will be joined by Hailee Steinfeld, who will play Kate Bishop – Barton’s protegee that is expected to take over the mantle of Hawkeye in the future.

Also starring are Vera Farmiga (as Eleanor Bishop, Kate’s mother), Fra Free, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brain d’Arcy James and Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo. Florence Pugh will reprise her Black Widow role as Yelena Belova while Ben Sakamoto, Ava Russo, and Cade Woodward also return as Barton’s children Cooper, Lila, and Nathaniel.

Hawkeye trailer

The Hawkeye trailer premiered on Monday, September 13, 2021. After much speculation about when it would arrive, Jeremy Renner confirmed the date on his Instagram account.

With a Christmas setting and the official introduction to Kate Bishop, this one is sure to be a festive favorite for film and TV fans this year!

What is Hawkeye about?

While an official synopsis for Hawkeye has yet to be released, the Disney Plus drama does take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. As the events of that film understandably had a great impact on Clint Barton, it’s not surprising that he is one of the characters to headline one of the Phase Four TV shows (much like Wanda Maximoff, Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson did).

The show is also expected to deal with the legacy of the mantle as Clint will presumably consider relinquishing said mantle to Kate so that he can spend time with the family that was once taken from him by Thanos. Moreover, given Yelena Belova’s involvement, it’s likely that it will also tie into the events of Black Widow somehow.
