Batwoman

The Arrowverse moved into darker territory when, after years of teasing, it finally gave fans a glimpse into the dark world of Gotham City through Batwoman. While The CW’s shared universe of superheroes is notoriously light-hearted, Batwoman takes its cues from the one that started it all (Arrow) as it is incredibly dark, moody and, at times, violent.

With its inherently dark tone and disturbing antagonists in Alice and her Wonderland Gang, the show first charts Kate Kane’s evolution into the Scarlet Knight in appropriately unnerving fashion before giving us a new Batwoman in Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder. And we wouldn’t expect anything less than unnerving from a show set in Gotham City.

Helstrom

A recent but short-lived addition to the superhero TV show landscape, Marvel’s Helstrom deals with the rarely-tackled supernatural side of the Marvel universe.

A Hulu original series, it’s believed to be set in the dark corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it follows the escapades of Daimon and Ana Helstrom who attempt to overcome their dark origins by hunting the worst of humanity – as well as those that are, well, not human.

The show received mixed reviews upon its release but it provided more than enough thrills for fans of the supernatural horror genre and it would certainly be the perfect superhero TV show to stick on this Halloween.
