Supergirl season 6 finale spoilers: Is [SPOILER] really dead?

Supergirl season 6, episode 18 ended on a shocking note, but is everything what it seems as the show heads into its series finale?

Supergirl is preparing to bid TV audiences farewell as the long-running CBS/CW series gears up for its two-hour series finale next week. It’s going to be an emotional one, for sure, but that much was clear from the shocking conclusion of this week’s installment.

“Truth or Consequences” was based on Nyxly’s quest for the Truth Totem, but in the process, it made some time to highlight the importance of the truth in all of its storylines.

The importance of the truth is a lesson that Andrea Rojas ended up learning the hard way when her desperation to break a story (and fabricate a byline) put William Dey in harm’s way. Yes, her determination to bring down Lex resulted in her using her abilities as Acrata to abscond with Lex’s journals and reveal his love poems about Nyxly to the world. And in order to make it all the more convincing, she suggested that it was William who procured them.

That ultimately backfired in the end as Lex killed William in the Tower as payback for “stealing”.

Is William Dey really dead on Supergirl season 6?

Wow, William’s death was really a shocker wasn’t it? While the show has struggled to find a place for the character in his post-love-interest-that-never-was phase, he was finding his footing as the good-hearted journalist determined to do keep doing good. Unfortunately, it seems like his death really is final.

While anything is possible in National City, the Arrowverse and, indeed, Supergirl, the show is running out of episodes (there are only two left) to bring him back. What’s also important to note is that the trailer for the show’s upcoming series finale features the Super Friends attending what appears to be William’s funeral.

Moreover, William sent Andrea the footage of the fatal gunshots right before he died, so that will likely play a role in bringing about the end of Lex.

William’s apparent death is a shocking blow to everyone and it will undoubtedly be the catalyst that propels the Super Friends to take down Lex and Nyxly once and for all.

Supergirl‘s two-hour series finale airs on The CW next Tuesday, November 9, at the earlier time of 8:00 p.m. ET.
