Marvel’s Eternals post-credits scene explained: Is [SPOILER] the MCU’s next major villain?
By Mark Lynch
Are there any scenes at the end of Marvel Studios’ Eternals? If so, how do they affect the rest of the MCU?
Marvel Studios’ Eternals has finally debuted in theaters. Despite the negative reviews, this writer absolutely loved it. Sure, it had its faults. What movie doesn’t? However, this was a different kind of Marvel Studios project. That alone is enough reason to praise the creative team. It shows that they’ve heard the fans and that new things are on the way.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe made mid and end credit scenes famous. Sometimes, the scenes are goofy (the shawarma scene at the end of The Avengers is a perfect example of that). Those are a lot of fun, but they aren’t what the audience waits around to see. The ones people really look forward to tease future projects or introduce new characters. Eternals is no different.

How many post credit scenes does Eternals have?
The question people want to know is whether or not to stay until the end of Eternals. The answer is: Yes. And you’ll also be happy to know that Eternals has two post-credits scenes.
There is both a mid-credits and post-credits scene after the movie ends, with the first scene coming after the movie’s logo appears and the last coming after the final credit rolls.
Thankfully, they’re both worth watching and both add something to the future of the MCU.
Eternals post-credits scenes explained
The mid credit scene starts with three of the Eternals (Thena, Druig, and Makkari) on their ship. They’re worried about the others that were left on Earth because they haven’t heard from them in weeks. Out of nowhere, rainbow colors appear and out pops Pip the Troll. Someone who’s been the sidekick and play thing of Thanos and Hela. This time, he’s running with Eros. Who just happens to be Thanos’ brother.
Eros offers his services to help find the other Eternals. While we don’t yet know his motivations, there is a possibility that Eros could betray them. He’s known as an arrogant manipulator in the comics (though he does become a hero as well). Is he set to be a villain in a future project? Will he try to bring Thanos back to life?
During the movie, Dane Whitman told Sersi that he needed to talk to her about his family lineage. Marvel Comics fans knew that this suggests the beginning of the Black Knight. When the end credit scene hits, Whitman is standing in front of a wooden case. When he opens it, we see the Ebony Blade. A powerful sword that comes with a curse. While it does make the user more powerful, it feeds off their despair.
Before Whitman could pick it up, a voice asks if he’s sure he wants to do that. A voice that sounds like Nick Fury. Since Black Knight was an Avenger, it only makes sense that Fury would talk to him. It’s reminiscent of Iron Man. Plus, we know Fury is always around when major things are about to happen. Is it him?
