Marvel: Vision could star in Disney Plus’ next WandaVision

Tom King’s Vision could be a great show for Marvel Studios and Disney Plus. In fact, it could resemble WandaVision.

Marvel’s Disney Plus shows have been consistent hits. Part of the reason they’ve been so good is the fact that they’ve hit on emotional levels. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier discussed the idea of being Black in America and how Sam Wilson would be perceived as a Black man becoming Captain America. Loki was all about breaking away from who you’re thought to be and becoming the person you want to become. Themes like selfishness, destiny, and more played a role throughout What If…?. Then there’s WandaVision. The show took a creative idea and explored how PTSD can have a major impact on a person’s life.

Speaking of WandaVision, the season finale left fans wanting more. Fans are anticipating Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but not just for the Sorcerer Supreme. People want to see how powerful the Scarlet Witch has become and where her head is at. They also want to know what happened to Vision.

After the altercation with the conjured version of himself, the newly-resurrected White Vision flew away. We have no idea where he went or what his state of mind is. That is exactly why Marvel Studios needs a WandaVision-like show based on the Tom King Marvel comic.

Vision the Marvel Comic

Tom King’s Vision had two incredible volumes. Volume 1 was Vision: Little Worse Than A Man and the second was Visions: Little Better Than A Beast (both titles are taken from William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice and come into play throughout both volumes).

This series introduced the family that Vision created. His wife Virginia and twin children Vin and Vivian. It’s a tale that seems like the happy American Dream, but quickly becomes Shakespearean (hence the titles).

Why this Marvel Comics series?

This writer started this article discussing emotions in recent Marvel projects for a reason. Vision also hits on more than just sadness and family. Things like what love is, depression, the idea of what being “normal” means, and mental health are all on display. This wasn’t a comic book where it’s brought up a couple of times and then never again. No, it’s always at the heart of it.

Vision drives home the importance of mental health and how it needs to be discussed more.  Subjects like this should be handled carefully and Tom King does just that with this story. Everything was done tactfully and tastefully.

To see a story like this come to life on Disney Plus after WandaVision, allowing us to see things through Vision’s eyes, would be incredibly powerful.

Marvel synthezoid family

Just like WandaVision, there would be a lot of confusion in the Vision family’s neighborhood. Virginia struggles to be the housewife and mother that she assumes she needs to be. Vivian and Vin grapple with what normal means for them. The issues they deal with are bad enough at home, but things outside are just as bad.

The twins are in high school. A highly volatile and hostile place with teenagers that can be beyond cruel. Vision doesn’t quite understand what he’s supposed to be doing. He knows what he’s seen and heard, but can’t fully grasp it – very much like Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision. In fact, things get so bad that the Avengers have to step in.

The WandaVision sequel we need?

A Vision-inspired Vision series could be everything that Marvel Studios’ WandaVision was. It would still have all the heart of the cheesy, nostalgic moments that Wanda and Vision had but without the secret being held.

There’s also the bonus that we would get more Paul Bettany as Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a host of new and exciting actors playing unknown characters. If that’s not enough, Viv is another young Marvel Comics hero that can be introduced. Viv eventually becomes a member of the Champions with Miles Morales, Amadeus Cho, Miles Morales, Nova, Kamal Khan, and more.

There may be some people that think the idea is too much like WandaVision. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We’ve seen rehashed ideas for decades, and this might come of better than trying to force a second season of WandaVision that just wouldn’t work. On that note, just think of it like season 2 of WandaVision but with a new name.
