Mysterio

Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio was the main threat in 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home and the aftermath of his reign of terror will play a major role in the upcoming film, even though the veteran actor is not actually confirmed to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Mysterio was responsible for revealing to the world that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. That was a shocking cliffhanger for the previous film and it has definitely set the plot in motion for the upcoming one, with Peter Parker’s life turned upside down after J. Jonah Jameson revealed that secret to everyone watching around the world, robbing him of any semblance of a normal teenage life.

However, while the illusionist is supposed to be dead, what if the character actually survived? Mysterio could have tricked E.D.I.T.H. into thinking he had died of his wounds in order to send Peter Parker’s life into a shambles, right? Or maybe he was just trying to prove how many steps ahead he would always be?

If Mysterio really survived, he could be a major key in assembling the Sinister Six in Spider-Man: No Way Home and attempt to ruin Parker’s life even more than he already has. Alternatively, he could appear as a version of Mysterio from the multiverse used to mess with Peter a bit more.
