These X-Men moments are certain to send ripples throughout the entire Marvel Universe.

As always, the X-Men had a busy month. Of course, the issues revolving around the Trial of Magneto are huge. There’s also everything going on with Magneto, Professor Xavier, and Moira MacTaggert going up against Destiny in Inferno.

Those two stories will affect the state of mutants forever. But that’s only the beginning of the game-changing moments for the X-Men. These next four moments from Marvel X-Men titles will also undoubtedly have a major impact going forward.

Ben Urich confronts the X-Men

Comic book: X-Men No. 5

Reporter Ben Urich has been skeptical about the X-Men since they moved back to New York. Soon after, he got proof that the mutants of Krakoa have found a way to cheat death. In the most recent issue of X-Men, Urich confronts Cyclops, telling him that it gives mutants “dominion.” He then leaves and tells Cyclops that he will return and see if Scott has a comment.

Why is this important?

This writer has been following this closely. One of the questions he’s asked is how the telepaths of Krakoa will deal with this. Emma Frost mentions to Jean Grey that distance doesn’t give Urich privacy from them. She must know what Urich tells Scott. Which makes you wonder what she’ll do.

Emma would absolutely use her powers to remove the information from Urich’s mind to protect Krakoa. However, Jean Grey wouldn’t do it herself or allow Emma to. Here’s something else to ponder: What if whoever is giving Urich information is protecting his mind? Whatever happens will almost certainly have major ramifications on the X-Men, Krakoa, and the mutants living in the world of man.

Triple Agent Wiz-Kid

Comic book: S.W.O.R.D. No. 10

Issue No. 9 of S.W.O.R.D. revealed that Wiz Kid was working for Henry Peter Gyrich and Orchis. This was shocking since Orchis and Gyrch are trying to kill mutants. In this issue, things escalated. Wiz Kid took out Cable and blew up S.W.O.R.D. for Orchis. What Gyrch doesn’t know is that Wiz Kid is a triple agent working for Abigail Brand.

Why is this important?

Brand and Wiz Kid are playing a dangerous game. If S.W.O.R.D. actually attacked, Brand and Wiz Kid will have a lot to answer for. Also, if Wiz Kid gets caught, he’ll be killed. When Gyrch sees him die, Wiz Kid can’t be seen in public. If he is, this exposes the Resurrection Protocols. However, it’s likely that Wiz Kid will die. Writer Al Ewing made it a point to bring up Wiz Kid not dying like other mutants. Could this be his first death?

Mutant babies being stolen

Comic book: X-Force No. 25

Logan is out surfing on the most dangerous part of Krakoa. While there, he comes across a woman named Pike and her friends. She says that they find the most dangerous waves in the world and surf them. Logan thinks he’s met a friend. And, in a rare case, he was happy. In actuality, they are there to take babies from the Bower in Krakoa.

Why is this important?

The most obvious point is that someone is stealing mutant babies. Who are they taking them to, why, and how did they get into Krakoa? Second, what did they do to Logan? Wolverine would die before he allowed babies to be taken from their home. He is probably going to kill a lot of people in the upcoming issues.

Orphan-Maker kills

Comic book: Hellions No. 17

Orphan-Maker has the mentality of a child with the skills and abilities to kill almost anyone. Thankfully, the Hellions and Nanny have been able to keep him from going over the edge. Especially since the Krakoan law “Kill no man” forbids mutants murdering humans. Unfortunately, Orphan-Maker broke that rule in a big way.

Why is this important?

It’s one thing to kill the people trying to hurt and murder mutants. It’s another when they’re police officers who weren’t attacking. The Hellions seeing the dead bodies Orphan-Maker shot shocked them. Now, they have a decision to make. Do they turn Orphan-Maker over to the Quiet Council or keep his secret? The latter is the more likely option. Their team is shaping up to be more like family as the series continues. They won’t want Orphan-Maker to end up in The Pit with Sabretooth.
