If you’re a fan of Christmas movies and also love Marvel, Iron Man 3 offers the perfect amount of holiday cheer and action thrills. Here’s why Iron Man 3 is a Christmas movie in my book.

Hawkeye on Disney+ may be the MCU’s first Christmas show, but the role of the MCU’s Christmas movie has long been filled thanks to Iron Man 3. So while many people these days are playing Elf and Home Alone on repeat this holiday season, know that Marvel fans and those who enjoy holiday movies are also adding Iron Man 3 to the Christmas movies shuffle.

What makes a Christmas movie a Christmas movie in the first place? Does Santa Claus need to make a cameo? Do the characters break into holiday songs? Who makes the rules? If you ask me, it’s all subjective!

While I admit that this MCU movie is not a traditional holiday movie by any means, it’s still a great movie with some holiday feels. Let’s break down why.

Iron Man 3 happens during Christmas

It’s December, there’s snow, there are gifts, it’s Christmas time during all of Iron Man 3! The holiday decor (did you see even Jarvis has a stocking on Tony’s chimney?) and white snow makes us feel cozy and ready to welcome Christmas.

Tony wishes Pepper a merry Christmas in Iron Man 3

When the events in the movie conclude, Tony shows Pepper how much he loves her by destroying his Iron Man suits, wishing Pepper a merry Christmas. See, the holiday season isn’t about material possessions, but family and friends. Has The Grinch taught us nothing?

Iron Man 3 features Christmas music

Finally, I think we can all agree that nothing shouts Christmas louder than Christmas music! And it doesn’t get any better than Tony Stark himself dancing to “Jingle Bells (Bombay Dub Orchestra Remix)” by Joe Williams.
