After starring in a slew of award-nominated roles on the big and small screen, Benedict Cumberbatch first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Doctor Strange before appearing again in three more movies. Of course, he’ll next appear in the upcoming Spider-Man and Doctor Strange sequels, but Cumberbatch also recently took on an iconic role in a holiday film remake. Stepping into the acid-tongued attitude of the Grinch, the Marvel star lent his voice to another famous doctor’s (Dr. Seuss!) legendary green Christmas caper in 2018’s animated update.
The Grinch tells the familiar tale we have all grown up watching during the holidays. Cumberbatch voices the Grinch, a mean creature who lives in isolation on Mount Crumpet, away from the holly jolly joy of Whoville. When Christmastime comes around again, the Grinch devises a plan to steal the holiday right out from under them and finally get his revenge.
Much like past iterations of the beloved story, The Grinch proved a hit with audiences, as Cumberbatch brought the character to a whole new generation. Watching the Grinch’s heart grow three sizes will always be a timeless holiday tradition.
