Who plays Superman in Naomi?
Naomi is here and so is Superman it seems, but who is playing the Man of Steel in The CW’s new show?
The reach of The CW’s ever-expanding universe of superheroes continues to grow. The Arrowverse has reached new heights with the critically-acclaimed Superman and Lois arriving last season and now a new superhero looks to make her presence felt this season. That hero is Naomi McDuffie.
Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, Naomi stars Kaci Walfall as a young woman who begins to experience events similar to those which she only read about in the comic books she grew up with.
With producer Ava DuVernay at the helm, expectations are high for The CW’s new superhero series, with early reviews suggesting it’s one to watch in 2022.
While the show is, at the moment, remaining disconnected from the network’s Arrowverse shows, we couldn’t help but think of one of that universe’s major heroes in the pilot episode, as Naomi herself is a major Superman fan, and her hometown found itself in the middle of a battlefield featuring the Man of Steel.
Is Superman and Lois’ Tyler Hoechlin in Naomi?
No, Superman and Lois‘ Tyler Hoechlin is not reprising his role as the Man of Steel on The CW’s Naomi. While Superman is involved, the Man of Steel’s outfit has a different color scheme to the one we met on Superman and Lois and Supergirl.
Moreover, Ava DuVernay confirmed that there won’t be any crossovers with the Arrowverse shows in the first season of Naomi.
Is Brandon Routh’s Superman in Naomi?
While we do know that the Arrowverse’s main Man of Steel will not be appearing in Naomi, rumors have suggested that we might see Brandon Routh take on the role instead. Routh, of course, played the character in the 2006 film Superman Returns and reprised the role as the Kingdom Come version in Crisis On Infinite Earths.
The reason that fans thought Routh’s hero might appear is down to the fact that the one seen in Naomi is wearing a costume with the same color scheme as the Kingdom Come version.
While there is always a possibility that Routh or any actor could play Superman in the future, he is not playing the DC hero in the show’s pilot episode.
Who plays Superman in Naomi?
As of now, it appears that no actor is playing the Man of Steel on the new CW series and that the show is simply using a CGI render of Superman instead. Moreover, as it appears that it wasn’t actually the DC hero, but a stunt performed to look like it was (as comic book characters appear to be fiction in Naomi‘s world), it’s unlikely that we will see him again.
That being said, given the color scheme of his costume, there is definitely potential for Brandon Routh to resurface as the Kingdom Come version of the character in the future.
