How did these stars from The Batman fare in their previous comic book roles.

The Batman has been getting high praise from fans. As this writer said, giving Robert Pattinson a chance was the right thing to do. It’s rare when the internet doesn’t have many bad things to say, especially since a lot of those same people couldn’t get past his previous role in the Twilight movie series, but there has been a very positive response to the film and Pattinson’s performance.

But Pattinson’s great performance wasn’t the only one in The Batman. The No. 1 movie at the box office also features Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, and Andy Serkis. Those four all helped make the movie a success.

Speaking of those four performers, they were in previous comic book projects, specifically Marvel Comics projects. What characters did they play and how did they do in them? Let’s find out.

Jeffrey Wright

Character in The Batman: James Gordon

Previous comic book project: Uatu the Watcher in What If…?

Jefferey Wright made his MCU debut on Disney Plus as Uatu the Watcher in Marvel Studios’  What If…? He may not have been the live-action version of The Watcher, but he was still incredible voicing the role. His voice performance had the same kind of monotone you’d expect while he was talking about different Earths. However, when he needed to show some personality he did that well, especially when dealing with Party Thor. This writer can’t wait to hear him in What If…? season 2. Hopefully he’ll continue to play the Watcher but also appear in the live action MCU projects someday.

Andy Serkis

The Batman character: Alfred Pennyworth

Previous comic book project: Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther

People know Andy Serkis for more than Black Panther. Nonetheless, he rocked as Ulysses Klaue. He was a villain who wasn’t scared to cause damage regardless of where he was. He’s probably caused more accidental deaths than directly taking any lives but that still made him an antagonist.

His personality made him a memorable character. Klaue was jovial regardless of the situation. He was plugging his mixtape in the middle of a million dollar deal. Even when he was in custody, he was still making kissy faces and rude remarks. Even dead, he’s unforgettable.

Zoë Kravitz

The Batman character: Selina Kyle a.k.a. Catwoman

Previous comic book project: Angel Salvadore in X-Men: First Class

Zoë Kravitz has been a star for a while. Playing Catwoman in The Batman is just the most recent example of that. But her role as Selina Kyle in that film wasn’t the first comic book project she’s been in. She also played Angel Salvadore in X-Men: First Class.

It was unfortunate that she didn’t have a bigger role in that movie. Her talent could have skyrocketed Angel and put her in X-Men: Days of Future Past too. Granted, there may not have been a spot for her character, there was a lot going on in that film. However, being killed off screen is no way for someone of her talent to go.

Colin Farrell

The Batman character: Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. The Penguin

Previous comic book project: Bullseye in Daredevil

Some people detest the Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. This writer may not share their resentment, but he understands it. It wasn’t done well. The one thing people can’t say, though, is that Colin Farrell wasn’t great as Bullseye.

Farrell captured Bullseye’s arrogant and sadistic personality flawlessly. He may have been the best part of the movie. If the movie hadn’t tanked, maybe we could have seen him again. Who knows. He could make a random cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It’s not that far-fetched, right?
