X Deaths of Wolverine: Logan dies and becomes something more dangerous

Wolverine find Moira MacTaggert, but not before she kills more mutants on her way to Krakoa. 

In X Deaths of Wolverine No. 3, we finally learned the answer to what’s been going on with Logan. This Wolverine wasn’t coming from the future for evil, he was there to kill Moira MacTaggert before she could harm more people.

In his future, Moira is one of the reasons why the robots take over and mutants are killed along with humans. What we didn’t know is how Logan got from the distant future (seen in Powers of X No. 6) to the present. X Deaths of Wolverine No. 4 explains that perfectly.

Before the Sentinels could invade Krakoa, Logan asked Forge for a favor. He needed a way to get back to the present. As a result, Forge created a seed similar to the one Krakoans use as doorways to other lands. So, when Moira showed up to kill Logan in Marvel‘s X Deaths of Wolverine No. 3, he had a plan. After she shot and infected him with the Phalanx, Logan planted the seed and ended up in the present. That’s why the “egg” Logan came from is older than Krakoa. Logan had it for thousands of years.

After Logan, Daken, Laura, and Gabby find out Moira was headed to Krakoa, Logan makes his way there. Since only mutants can use the Krakoan gates, and she’s no longer a mutant (see: Inferno No. 4), she does something heinous.

Moira used her relationship with Banshee to kill him. She then uses his skin like a suit to enter the Krakoan gates. After that, she tries to use the gun that takes mutant powers to get her powers back, but it doesn’t work. Forge and Xavier planned for that.

Moira uses the gun on Forge, kidnaps Destiny, and tries to escape. She’s eventually stopped by Logan but not before taking his powers away. Without his powers, Logan was now controlled by the Phalanx. A fate worse than death.

  • Is Moira actually dead? Logan stabbed her, but it’s not over until it’s a confirmed kill.
  • How does Xavier escape Omega Wolverine in X Lives of Wolverine? When he contacted Moira, he seemed fine.
  • Will Mystique be punished for chasing after Moira or will it be swept under the rug?
  • How far will Omega Red go to kill Xavier? Will the Cerebro Sword eventually end up in Krakoa?
  • What other things did Logan do in his past? Finding out that he was a “Venom” before Spider-Man was shocking (see X Lives of Wolverine No. 4 for more on that).
