A Harley Quinn character is getting a spin-off and it’s everyone’s favorite aerial specialist, Kite Man.

The Harley Quinn animated show is easily the best adult animated cartoon of the last ten years (possible even longer). Season 1 hit hard and season 2 was even better. Then, Tee Franklin wrote the Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour. It was an amazing comic book that showed the escapades of Harley and Ivy after the end of season 2. We saw old characters, ones that haven’t appeared in the show (yet), and where Harley and Poison Ivy will go next.

When a show is as popular as this, you can assume that the company producing it will want more. Sometimes it’s just more seasons. If the characters are well loved, marketable, or both, you’ll see a spin-off. This is what’s happening here.

As reported by Collider, series co-creator Patrick Schumacker announced that Kite Man will take flight in his own show.

The announcement came at SXSW and the working title is Noonan’s. A bar that Kite Man will have taken over that specifically serves supervillains in DC Comics.

After saying no to Poison Ivy’s marriage proposal and Ivy then leaving with Harley in the season 2 finale, Kite Man probably needed a change in his life. Buying a bar seems like something he would do. It’s a way for him to be there for other people. A job that a lot of bartenders take seriously. Moreover, Schumacker revealed that the show will be like Cheers for supervillains.

What to expect from a Kite Man show

"“We have Harley and Ivy appear in the first episode, but after that we have with different goons and villains appearing every episode like Lex Luthor and Bane. It will be kind of like Cheers for supervillains.” – Patrick Schumacker"

Of course, we can expect the silliness that we’ve come to love from Harley Quinn to make its presence felt in the Kite Man series. However, the show has always been more than violence and jokes. There have been a lot of deep moments that focus on characters trying to love themselves, accept who they are, and find people they can call family. We’ll definitely see all of that in Noonans, especially with Kite Man. If they get into his origin, and it’s like the one from The War of Jokes and Riddles, keep a tissue handy. It’s a sad story.

We have to wonder who his coworkers will be? Kite Man can’t run a bar, serve patrons, and take care of all the behind-the-scenes aspects on his own, right? Especially if he runs into shady customers. Does this mean we’ll see more random DC Comics characters playing roles? Imagine seeing Bane as the bouncer, White Rabbit as the bartender, and Captain Cold as the bar back. Also, how does Condiment King fit into this? They have a silly and heated rivalry. Will Condiment King buy a bar across the street just to be a jerk? It’s very possible.

Lastly, if this show does well, could spin-offs come? Personally, this writer would love to see a King Shark, Doctor Psycho and Clayface show. Sure, Psycho betrayed them, but that could be forgiven for the love of money. Or, how about one focusing around James Gordon and Batgirl? Their interactions are always entertaining. There are also characters we haven’t seen on the show like Huntress, Batwoman, and Jason Todd. All three of them could pop up in a season and show up later. Regardless of what happens, we can expect this show to succeed. To quote the Kite Man, “Hell yeah!”
