Moon Knight returned to screens with its third episode and that return featured the most jaw-dropping cliffhanger ending yet.

Moon Knight‘s third episode is here, and what a remarkable episode of the show it is.

The Disney Plus series is now halfway through its run (or its first season, at least) and the show is definitely upping the ante with each episode. That much was clear from the ending sequence of the most recent installment – an ending that will no doubt have fans scrambling for answers.

The third episode saw Khonshu assist Steven Grant and Layla in tracking down Ammit’s tomb by turning back the night sky so that their map would be able to pinpoint its location. However, in doing so, he drew the attention of the other gods – all of whom had warned him against using his powers in such a way. As a result, he disintegrated in front of Steven and Layla before Steven too collapsed.

Are Steven, Marc and Khonshu dead on Moon Knight?

While that was definitely a jaw-dropping ending for Moon Knight‘s third episode, all hope is not lost for Khonshu, Steven Grant or Marc Spector. While Khonshu has been imprisoned within a statue by his fellow gods, he isn’t gone for good – that much was clear when he told Steven that Marc would need to free him.

Speaking of Marc, Steven may have collapsed after Khonshu disappeared but we shouldn’t be too concerned for either character’s future. For starters, the show isn’t going to kill off its main character(s) this early into its run and leave Oscar Isaac without anything to do. Moreover, Khonshu is going to need somebody who knows where to find him to break him out of his prison.

No, the likely explanation here is that Steven was overwhelmed by the sudden loss of his powers that it left him completely incapacitated. On that note, expect him and Marc to be okay and to make it their mission to help Khonshu (so that he can give them their powers back).
