4. Moon Knight Devil’s Reign No. 1

Writer: Jed MacKay

Artist: Federico Sabbatini

Moon Knight takes his duty as protector of his flock seriously. He’ll do whatever he can to make sure that the people in his community feel safe. If they aren’t, he’ll move Heaven and Earth to ensure they’re avenged. This issue shows how far Marc Spector will go to do his duty.

Marc got himself sent to prison to make sure one of his flock felt safe. When he confronts the man intimidating a wife and mother, he tells him that he’ll never see them again. He meant that literally, as Moon Knight shoved his thumbs in his eyes. Being stuck in prison meant nothing to him. He knew he’d escape on his own or that Reed and Sue Richards would help him.

5. Vengeance of Moon Knight No. 1-6

Writer: Gregg Hurwitz

Artist: Jerome Opeña

Lastly, we come to Vengeance of Moon Knight. Jake Lockley was back in New York and running the show. In the first issue you can see the distinct difference between Jake and Marc Spector. The biggest thing was that he wasn’t killing anymore. Jake was also being hunted by Norman Osborn (who was running the Avengers). It was funny seeing Norman send Sentry to talk to him as if that was going to mean anything to him.

The biggest takeaway from this story was the feeling of it. He was more Batman than he was Moon Knight. He had fancy vehicles, non-lethal guns, and tons of moon themed gadgets. The rest of the series is just okay. However, the first six issues are really good. You won’t regret reading it.
