Billy Butcher The Boys comics differences

Actor: Karl Urban

This is one of the changes that this writer detests. We saw a glimpse of what could’ve been in The Boys: Diabolical. He was smooth, vicious, and logical. In the comics, Mother’s Milk once said that Butcher does waste anything. Even a smile. On the show, Butcher is too impulsive. He rushes into things and doesn’t think about the consequences.

It wasn’t until the final episode of season 2 that Butcher became what he should be. Hopefully, this leads into season 3. Although, it isn’t likely. Butcher has powers now. We can expect him to do some foolish things with them. This writer hopes he’s wrong. Butcher in the comics is someone that viewers would love more than the Amazon Prime show.

Hughie Campbell The Boys comics differences

Actor: Jack Quaid

The difference between Hughie in the comics and the Amazon Prime show can be described in one word, confidence. In the show, Hughie stands up for himself more. In the comics, Hughie won’t even look Butcher in the eyes. He may still be intimidated by him in the show, but it’s not like it is in the comics.

This is a gift and a curse. They’re equally as good in both. On the show, Hughie’s confidence works. He isn’t someone that should be pitied. It makes people love his evolution since it happens more often while he’s still a klutz at times. In the comics, his build-up to becoming his own man helped make his ending that much better. This writer prefers the latter.
