Moon Knight has come to an end, but what does the season finale’s conclusion mean?

It doesn’t seem that long ago that Moon Knight premiered on Disney Plus, but here we are five weeks later after watching its season 1 finale.

Oscar Isaac stepped into the much-anticipated role and the delivered an unforgettable performance, bringing Marc Spector, Steven Grant and Moon Knight to life in one of the best performances we have seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, the journey for Marc, Steven, Khonshu, Layla and Arthur Harrow all came to a head in the show’s shocking season finale. And with that finale comes a lot to talk about.

Who is Jake Lockley in Moon Knight?

The battle we were all waiting for finally happened in the season finale of Moon Knight as Marc Spector and Steven Grant returned, giving Khonshu the manpower he needed to stop Ammit. And with that, Moon Knight and Layla (who had now become the avatar for Taweret) took on Arthur Harrow as Khonshu battled Ammit.

While Steven and Marc then requested release from Moon Knight, the third, more-violent personality appeared to rear his head one more time. And in the end, we finally learned who that is.

In the closing moments of the finale’s post-credits sequence, we discovered that Khonshu was so willing to let Marc Spector and Steven Grant go because he knew he wouldn’t have to follow through on his word. Why? Because the third personality, Jake Lockley, would remain on as his avatar, allowing him to continue bringing about justice – even if it’s in a far more violent manner.

Marc and Steven wouldn’t kill Harrow, so Khonshu got Jake to do it instead. And now, the pair are completely unaware that their body is continuing to be used as Khonshu’s Fist of Vengeance, simply because they don’t know that Jake exists.

As or who Jake is, in the comics he was one of Marc’s many aliases. However, he soon manifested as one of his personalities. Fans have been expecting to see Jake on the show for some time now, with references to his debut coming in the early episodes and consistently popping up throughout. No doubt they will find it fulfilling to know that their theory about Jake being the third, more-iolent personality was correct.

All episodes of Moon Knight are now available to stream on Disney Plus.
