Ms. Marvel: 5 crucial moments from episode 2
By Mark Lynch
4. Not an easy road
After getting her abilities, Kamala was joined by Bruno as the pair learned what she could do. For example, they found out that super strength didn’t come with the package. That means there are limits to what she can conjure. Later, Kamala is in class and her cosmic light ends up on her nose. This showed Kamala that this wasn’t going to be the experience she thought it would be.
Kamala saw the Avengers and Captain Marvel and may have only seen the glamorous part of superpowers. In this episode, she discovered how false that is, especially after she almost failed to save a life. These were lessons she had to learn or she’d fail as a hero.
3. Nakia’s life isn’t easy
Nakia is Kamala’s closest female friend. She’s also another person her age who understands what it means to be a Muslim woman. When Kamala approached Nakia about her life looking easy, Nakia told her that it’s far from it. Nakia explained that the road of coming into her own was a hard one.
Nakia is going to be a character to pay close attention to. She may not be part of Ms. Marvel’s life, but she’ll be crucial to Kamala on her journey. Nakia is running for a position in her Mosque that’s usually held by men. Whether Nakia wins or loses won’t matter to her friend. Kamala will be proud of her regardless.
