Superman and Lois season 2 finale ending explained: Who is [SPOILER]?
Superman and Lois season 2 came to an end with a very interesting cliffhanger. What does it all mean?
Superman and Lois season 2 has been a trying outing for the Kent-Lane family. From the moment that it kicked off, the Man of Steel found himself suffering from inexplicable headaches tied to a creature in the mines. What he didn’t know was that it was all linked to Lois’ sister Lucy and the woman manipulating her, Ally Allston.
Over the course of the season, we learned about the Inverse World, a.k.a. Bizarro World, and Ally’s attempt to merge that reality with Earth-Prime. That is exactly what the villain attempted to do in the season’s final three episodes, and she very nearly achieved it thanks to her master plan to render Superman powerless.
*** This article contains SPOILERS from Superman and Lois season 2’s finale ***
The finale, “Waiting for Superman”, saw the Man of Steel regain his powers and successfully defeat Ally, saving Smallville – and indeed Earth – from her reign of terror. He didn’t do it alone, as he had the help of his family, and brother Tal-Rho, to do it.
However, along with the arrival of John Diggle, the season 2 finale left things in a very different place, setting the stage for the third season and its potential villain. But what does it all mean for the Arrowverse series, and just who could the new threat be?
Who is Bruno Mannheim on Superman and Lois season 2?
The season finale of Superman and Lois season 2 saw John Diggle return to approach John Henry Irons about a character named Bruno Mannheim. It turns turns out that he killed the John Henry Irons of Superman and Lois‘ earth. Why? Well, we don’t know that… and that’s what John Henry is going to find out.
DC Comics fans might recognize the name. Bruno Mannheim is an Intergang crime boss who first appeared in 1971’s Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen No. 139. He’s an enemy of Superman and has appeared in various TV adaptations throughout the years, including animated shows Superman: The Animated Series and Young Justice, as well as a live-action appearance in Smallville.
Arrowverse fans might recognize the name as he was mentioned by Lillian Luthor on occasion in Supergirl as being an associate of Lex Luthor’s. As Supergirl took place on a different earth at the time, that was a reference to the Earth-38 version. Meanwhile, the Earth-1 version was referenced on Arrow.
Don’t ask us what earth Superman and Lois takes place on because the season finale just confused things a lot more. But as for how this new version of Bruno Mannheim will play into Superman and Lois season 3, that remains to be seen. In the comics, Intergang are known for arming themselves technology supplied by New Gods of the planet Apokolips – a planet associated with Superman villain Darkseid.
With that in mind, could we see the iconic DC character appear in season 3?
