The Marvels will be the next adventure for Ms. Marvel but when does the MCU movie come out in theaters?

Captain Marvel was one of the most successful Marvel Cinematic Universe movies of all time. Led by Brie Larson, the 2019 film went on to gross over $1 billion, introducing us to an epic new hero and setting the stage for the Infinity Saga’s big conclusion in Avengers: Endgame.

Larson will return in the upcoming sequel The Marvels, but she won’t be the only MCU hero reprising her role. Joining her in the title roles are Teyonah Parris, who reprises her role as Monica Rambeau a.k.a. Photon from WandaVision, and Iman Vellani, who reprises her role as the title character from Ms. Marvel.

The latter of those two Disney Plus shows just introduced us to Kamala Khan, the Carol Danvers superfan who went on to become her own hero. Ms. Marvel just recently concluded its run, with fans instantly turning their attention to when we’ll see the character next.

On that note, just when does The Marvels arrive in movie theaters?

The Marvels release date

The Marvels premieres in movie theaters on July 28, 2023. It was initially planned for release this summer, but Marvel Studios had to push it back multiple times before it was moved to February 2023. However, the film was then swapped with fellow MCU release Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which was brought forward from July 2023.

Marvel has not explained why the swap took place but it reportedly could simply be down to the fact that Ant-Man 3 was further along in production.

The Marvels will also feature the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Meanwhile, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur all reprise their respective Ms. Marvel roles as Aamir, Muneeba, and Yusuf Khan. Zawe Ashton has been cast as the film’s villain and Park Seo-joon will play a mystery role.
