Marvel: What if…? renewed for a season 3 before season 2’s release

Season 2 of Marvel Comics’ What if…? was announced. Soon after that, season 3 was said to be coming after.

The weekend of the San Diego Comic-Con is always a huge weekend for fans of nerd culture. There’s always something new to show fans. Trailers for TV shows and movies, character designs, and upcoming comic book stories are among the announcements.

So far, fans have gotten a preview for I am Groot, an announcement for Spider-Man: Freshman Year, and the first clip of Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. There was also the reveal of What If…? season 2 being released in early 2023. On top of the season 2 news, Marvel Studios announced that season 3 is coming before the second premieres.

Is What If season 3 happening?

It’s not shocking that season 3 of Marvel’s What if…? was announced before season 2 comes to Disney Plus. For every Marvel Studios movie and show, there are multiple opportunities for alternate realities that could become episodes.

What if…? Kamala Khan helped the Clandestine? What if…? Arthur Harrow continued to be Moon Knight? What if…? Maya Lopez killed Clint Barton? Those are only the options from the Disney Plus shows. There’s also Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Spider-Man: No One Home. The possibilities seem to be endless.

Marvel announcing two seasons of What if…? back to back happened for a reason. With everything that happened in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Loki, and future MCU projects, something must be planned. Most likely the 2015 Secret Wars storyline that involved the incursion. We’ll have to wait and see.
