Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see the debut of M.O.D.O.K. as a villain. Is this the right project for this to happen?

If you’re a Marvel fan, the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con was full of important and exciting news and trailers. Among that news was the reveal of when Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would start and conclude, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will end Phase 4 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be part of Phase 5’s beginning.

Jonathan Majors’ Kang The Conqueror was announced to be in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. While Kang is an antagonist that could rock the MCU, he’s not the only villain . During the San Diego Comic-Con, it was confirmed that we would see another villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It’s reported. A.I.M.’s M.O.D.O.K. will debut as well.

Is M.O.D.O.K. a good pick?

M.O.D.O.K. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) looks incredibly goofy. The Hulu show didn’t help that. However, he’s far from a joke. Throughout Marvel Comics, M.O.D.O.K. has been a dangerous villain to Captain America, Tony Stark, and, recently, the X-Men. He’s versed in killing and considers it an art form. He’s even more deadly because he’s consistently looking for new and creative ways to perfect his art. After two movies with only one memorable antagonist, M.O.D.O.K. joining Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a brilliant idea.

M.O.D.O.K. doesn’t look like a conventional villain. He’s a giant head, with tiny arms, and floats on what Deadpool calls a “floating toilet”. Those jokes could very well be made throughout Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, especially from Scott Lang. There’s no way Scott sees him and isn’t freaked out or making a ton of jokes. Actually, he’ll probably do both. As soon as the quips come, M.O.D.O.K. will show the world that he may look funny, but his methods aren’t a joke.

The other exciting aspect of M.O.D.O.K.’s arrival is that it may bring A.I.M. to the MCU as well. A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) also looks silly. Everyone says they’re wearing beekeepers because that’s exactly what they resemble. Like their leader M.O.D.O.K. they’re deadly. Sure, A.I.M. soldiers and scientists are essentially canon fodder, but they have a bunch of creative weapons that will look great on screen.

Overall, this was a smart move by Marvel Studios. It’s the perfect place for an absurd looking villain to make his debut and be entertaining and look ridiculous all at the same time. Hopefully, these villains will be more memorable than Yellow Jacket from the first Ant-Man movie.
