Agatha: Coven of Chaos is not coming to Disney Plus in 2022

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is one of the most anticipated new Disney Plus shows, but don’t be expecting it to hit screens this year.

Agatha Harkness quickly became one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when she made her debut in Disney Plus‘ WandaVision. It was Kathryn Hahn who brought the character to life in an Emmy-nominated performance that saw Wanda’s friendly neighbor Agnes reveal herself as the powerful sorceress.

While Agatha was unable to stop Wanda from transforming into the Scarlet Witch, she was kept alive in case Wanda might need her help in the future. And that has set the stage for her return in the future, one that will come in the form of her very own Disney Plus series.

The show was originally titled Agatha: House of Harkness, but it has since been retitled Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Why the change, we don’t quite know, but we do know that the show won’t be making its presence felt on Disney Plus this year.

But when can fans expect the show to premiere?

Agatha: Coven of Chaos release date predictions

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is expected to be released on Disney Plus in winter 2023 or 2024. This was confirmed when Kevin Fiege unveiled Marvel Studios’ upcoming slate for Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU at San Diego Comic-Con. During the panel, the show’s name-change was confirmed, along with the fact that it would premiere as one of the last titles of Phase 5, debuting in winter 2023 at the earliest.

It was already looking like a 2022 premiere date was out of the question given that filming initially wasn’t expected to start until October 2022. However, when production was confirmed to start in January 2023, this officially ruled out a release this year.

Nevertheless, it’s good to know that we now have a window for Agatha’s return to the MCU, and it goes without saying that fans are excited to see her again.
