6 DC characters who benefit from Batgirl’s cancelation
Green Arrow
The Arrowverse is officially dead. Stephen Amil was great, but it’s time for Warner Discovery to bring the Emerald Archer to the big screen.
Over the years, fans had the privilege of getting to know Oliver Queen through the lens of The CW. However, there is still a lot left to be explored. We saw Oliver’s story told in flashbacks and time jumps, but we need a true origin story. And we need a different version of Oliver Queen.
For starters, Green Arrow is known for his brash nature, which differs from Batman’s brooding. His stories see him tackle more political issues. While we won’t see that much on the big screen, we can see him stand for something.
As for an origin, we need to see Andy Diggle’s Green Arrow: Year One adapted to live-action. We see him transform from party boy to hero when he takes down druglords. In that story, we see playboy Oliver betrayed by his friend who throws him off a boat. He survives and swims to an island. He teaches himself archery, fights his way off, and becomes the hero Starling City needs.
We also need to see a proper Black Canary-Green Arrow romance. Arrow robbed us of that in exchange for Olicity, the movie can right that wrong. Jurnee Smollett is already set to reprise her role in a Black Canary solo project. Maybe she could run into Oliver before he disappears.
