X-Men in the MCU: Gambit (Remy LeBeau)

It’s a bit crazy to think that Gambit hasn’t been given a film yet. We’ve had a few film adaptions of the character, specifically in X-Men Origins: Wolverine when Taylor Kitsch portrayed the role, but that’s about it. There were plans for Channing Tatum to play the role, but those fizzled out before ultimately being canceled.

Gambit has long been a fan favorite in most circles and could easily appear as a cameo in an MCU project before the X-Men officially hit the screen. His unique set of powers paired with his background gives him the ability to blend in with the street-level heroes that we are sure to get with the upcoming She-Hulk and Daredevil projects.

Once introduced officially, Gambit could, in a way, be a rogue mutant. He’s been in and out of the X-Men in the comics and could provide the same story to the MCU. While he isn’t a true “anti-hero” Marvel could adapt his storyline to fit that narrative, especially with the announcement of Thunderbolts.

Either way, the MCU needs to utilize Gambit more than he’s been utilized in the past. He’s a fan favorite that has been a bit ignored in the films which leaves Marvel with a nearly clean slate to make the character how they see fit. He has a lot of untapped potential that the studio can mold into whatever they want.
