Cyclops – Scott Summers

Fans know Cyclops as the leader of the X-Men, who got disrespected in Fox’s X-Men animated series and X-Men trilogy either. A fresh take would do wonders. Episode two of this X-Men anthology series should drop us into the chaotic life of the Summers family. Scott’s optic blast saved him and his brother from dying in a plane explosion that killed their parents.

Scott Summers is the foundation for Mister Sinister, who worked behind the scenes to torment (physically and mentally) the young mutant. Sinister separated Scott from his brother and even kidnapped his adoptive parents. Naturally, getting his parents back from some big, bad mutants could be the base of the episode. They could tweak the comic book backstory by keeping Sinister in the shadows as a puppet master.

An episode following Scott through his growing pains caused by Sinister without directly revealing it would make for great TV. Showing a young boy trying to do everything he can to save the people he loves could emotionally draw people in. The episode would show why Scott is the perfect man to become the leader of the X-Men. In the end, Professor X could help him rescue his parents and make Scott the first member of his team.
