X-Men: Keke Palmer’s Halloween costume shows why she should play Rogue in the MCU
By Mark Lynch
Keke Palmer hires a team of talented creatives to bring fans’ dream of her playing Rogue of the X-Men to life. Hopefully this leads to her getting cast.
There are very few people who love their fans like Keke Palmer does. She replies to social media posts, has answered fan asked questions for Wire, and is genuinely appreciative of the love she gets. It’s all you could ever ask of someone. However, this Halloween, Keke Palmer went above and beyond, dressing up as Rogue of the X-Men and highlighting why they are right to call for her to play the character.
Celebrities dressing up as comic book characters is nothing new. Every Halloween, musicians, actors, and pop culture stars choose to be comic book characters. It’s a good way to get eyes on them. For example, this year, Kim Kardashian and Saweetie became the X-Men character Mystique and Chloe Bailey dressed up as Storm. As normal as that is, what Keke Palmer did was different.
Keke Palmer could have just as easily bought a convincing Rogue costume online and called it a day. That wasn’t enough. She hired a photographer, set designer, make-up and hair artists, and costume designer to make fans’ dreams of her being Rogue come to life. She also made certain to credit the people who made the costume and character come to life. All of this happened after Keke saw a video of a fan making a case for her to play Rogue. Again proving that she’s a woman of the people.
When the person who created the video made the case for Keke to be Rogue, the Nope star responded, “Come on agentttttttt.” That showed that she was all in on playing the X-Men’s superpowered southern belle. Putting on the costume and doing a full on photoshoot showed dedication to the role. It would be awesome if Marvel Studios and thought about how she’d fit into their future plans. If she does this on her own, imagine what she would be capable of as the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This writer thinks she’d be absolutely fantastic in the role. As he stated in a previous article, Keke Palmer puts everything she has into her projects. A quality that goes a long way in any profession. If she doesn’t get the role in a live action capacity, she can always voice the character in an animated project. No matter how it happens, Marvel should make this happen. Keke Palmer would be an amazing Rogue.
