The Walking Dead: Dead City is on the horizon but don’t be anticipating its presence on AMC this month. When can TWD fans expect the spin-off?

The end of The Walking Dead is the end of an era of television. It sounds cliché to say at this point but it’s the truth, because it’s hard to imagine a TV landscape without it. Thankfully, we won’t have to. Not really, anyway.

The series may be finishing up with season 11, but the universe it has spawned will live on. While we still have Fear The Walking Dead season 8 coming soon (not to mention recently-aired spinoffs Tales of the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond), we can also look forward to three new spin-off shows.

One of those spin-offs is set in New York City, and it will star Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as the pair reprise their respective TWD roles as Maggie Greene and Negan Smith.

While The Walking Dead might be bowing out later this month, The Walking Dead: City will not be replacing it. It’s understandable that a spin-off won’t air so soon after the original series departs, but the good news is that we do have an idea of when Dead City will debut.

The Walking Dead: Dead City release date predictions

The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere on AMC in April 2023. This was confirmed at New York Comic-Con, which also gave us our first look at the series through a selection of photos that showcased Maggie and Negan’s return in the big city.

What’s also interesting is that Fear The Walking Dead season 8 will also be premiering in 2023. That show has yet to get a release window but it does have a tendency to split its season into two parts. If that’s the case here, we could see Fear return earlier in the year and air half of its season, setting the stage for the first six episodes of Dead City to run in the interim.

Of course, that’s just a prediction, and it’s best to wait for AMC to officially announce when Madison, Morgan and the rest of the Fear regulars will be back on screens. What we do know is that The Walking Dead: Dead City is in production and will premiere sometime in April, and fans cannot wait to see Maggie and Negan take on the city of the dead.
