Black Panther 2 arrives in movie theaters this week. Is it suitable for family-viewing? What is Wakanda Forever’s age rating? Here is what you need to know.

Black Panther was one of the biggest and most groundbreaking superhero movies of all time. It’s upcoming sequel will undoubtedly be another huge installment in the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it could also be the shared universe’s most emotional outing.

A film that will pay tribute to the late, great Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will see the characters honor T’Challa. It will also introduce audiences to the MCU’s version of Namor, who attempts to attack the surface world at a time when he perceives Wakanda to be vulnerable. As a result, a new Black Panther will step up to stop him.

With Wakanda Forever set to the biggest movie of the fourth quarter of the year, you can bet audiences will be flocking to see it. However, if you’re going to see it as a family, you will probably want to know if it’s suitable for younger viewers.

Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever age rating

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has an age rating of PG-13 from the MPAA. It has received that rating for “sequences of strong violence, action and some language”.

Marvel fans will be more than familiar with that age rating as it is the one that all MCU movies, and indeed most superhero movies, receive from the MPAA. The first Black Panther movie was also rated PG-13, so if your children enjoyed that movie, then it’s likely this one will be suitable for them too.

That being said, there are some other things to consider, including the fact that Marvel has been evolving in Phase Four, with more mature titles such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (which was also rated PG-13). The other thing to keep in mind is that grief will play a major role in this movie, as it will no doubt pay a beautiful tribute to T’Challa.

As always, you’ll know if your kids like the Marvel movies and if they are comfortable with them, so it’s worth bearing that in mind when deciding if you think Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever is for them.
