The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne is not coming to AMC in November 2022
The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne won’t be coming to AMC this month. When can fans expect it to arrive?
Rick Grimes and Michonne are two of the most important characters in The Walking Dead. Rick has been a part of the show since the first season, with Andrew Lincoln portraying him, while Michonne made her debut in season 3 when Danai Gurira brought her to life.
Neither actor is part of the show anymore, with Lincoln leaving in season 9 and Gurira departing in season 10. Fans have been speculating about the whether or not either one could return in The Walking Dead season 11 finale, as that is also the final episode of the show ever. Regardless of whether that happens or not, Rick and Michonne will be back on our screens in the future.
The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne was announced at San Diego Comic-Con. A six part series set to focus on the two characters (with Lincoln and Gurira reprising their roles), it will bring the pair back together after their love story was interrupted by Rick’s apparent demise in TWD season 9. The Rick and Michonne spinoff didn’t have a title at first, but from a recent promo poster AMC released for the show, it seems that Rick and Michonne could indeed be what it is called.
But even though The Walking Dead series finale airs this month, don’t be expecting the Rick and Michonne series to hit screens anytime soon.
The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne release date predictions
The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne will premiere on AMC in 2023. This was confirmed by Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, and TWD showrunner Scott Gimple at San Diego Comic-Con in July, with the confirmation that the series would replace the previously-announced Rick Grimes movie trilogy.
While it’s understandable that none of the TWD Universe spin-offs (including Fear The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and The Walking Dead: Dead City) will immediately replace The Walking Dead on AMC’s calendar this month/year, it’s likely that the Rick and Michonne spinoff series won’t be airing until the second half of 2023 at the very earliest.
The in-production Dead City will premiere in April 2023, while season 8 of Fear is also likely an early 2023 release given that it is also in production. The Rick and Michonne series has yet to commence production, and while there are only six episodes, it’s best to expect something of a wait for it as filming will take time. That means a summer or fall 2023 release would be more likely for it.
Of course, that’s just a prediction and it’s always best to wait for official confirmation from AMC, but just know that the show won’t be the first TWD Universe spin-off to take over from The Walking Dead.
