The Walking Dead has come to an end, but what comes next from the TWD Universe? Which Walking Dead spinoff series comes next?

After 11 seasons, and close to 200 episodes, The Walking Dead has come to an end. The legendary zombie series bowed out with its super-sized series finale on AMC that brought both the show, and its eleventh season, to a memorable conclusion.

The show had become a regular part of the TV schedule over the past 12 years, so to say that it’s end brings about the end of an era just wouldn’t be enough to highlight how unusual the landscape would feel without it.

The TWD Universe will continue on, however, with more than a few spinoff shows to look forward to. But which one (or two) of them is the first to air in a post-Walking Dead world?

What is the next series in The Walking Dead Universe?

While there are multiple spin-off shows set in the TWD Universe in development, the only one with a definitive release window right now is The Walking Dead: Dead City, which is due to premiere in April 2023.

The rest are all set to arrive at some point next year as well. That being said, the first spinoff in the TWD Universe, Fear The Walking Dead, is due to return for its eighth season in 2023, and it could very well air the first half of that early in the year, perhaps paving the way for Dead City‘s premiere. Then again, it could air shortly after the new series.

Next year will also see the release of Daryl Dixon and the Rick and Michonne series, but as they have yet to begin filming, we shouldn’t expect them until later in the year.

We’re in a brave new era for the TWD Universe, but it goes without saying that the legacy of The Walking Dead will live on for a long time to come.
