Superman and Lois season 3 is not coming to The CW in December 2022

Superman and Lois season 3 is not part of The CW’s fall line-up. When will it return to screens?

The third season of Superman and Lois could be its most different yet. For a start, we have a brand new Jonathan Kent, as Michael Bishop will be stepping in to replace Jordan Elsass after the young actor left the DC show.

Moreover, it’s looking like Bruno Mannheim (Chad L. Coleman) will be the season’s main villain, and that could result in the show’s first human Big Bad (although we thought that about Morgan Edge and Ally Allston, and look how those turned out).

Yes, Superman and Lois season 3 could be the show’s most unique installment, and that’s not even taking into account the fact that the uncertainty at The CW could result in the show ending earlier than expected. Nevertheless, season 3 is coming, and it’s worth getting excited about.

That being said, don’t expect new episodes of the DC TV series this coming month. The CW has debuted its fall schedule (which is now at its halfway point) but Superman and Lois season 3 is not part of it. When could it debut?

Superman and Lois season 3 release date predictions

Superman and Lois season 3 will premiere on The CW in 2023. At the network’s Upfronts in May, it was confirmed that the show (along with The Flash, Riverdale, Nancy Drew and new series Gotham Knights) would be held until next year instead.

As far as a specific release window goes, it could premiere as early as January as that is when season 2 made its debut. However, if the network plans on running season 3 in the show’s typical Tuesday night 8:00 p.m. slot, then it likely won’t return until March at the earliest. That slot is currently being held by The Winchesters, which is now halfway through its run, so it will need to complete that run when it returns in early 2023. That is, unless The CW decides to air it in the later 9:00 p.m. slot instead (which it aired in during season 1).

Right now, a March release seems most likely. But as we’ve said before, it’s best to wait for The CW to announce its premiere date before making any assumptions, and with the midseason schedule overdue at this point, here’s hoping that is sooner rather than later.
