Amazon Prime The Boys’ spin-off Gen V finally debuts a trailer and it’s exactly what fans want and expect from the show.

Amazon Prime announced a spin-off of their popular superhero shows The Boys back in 2020. Obviously, the pandemic slowed down the production of the show. However, earlier this year, more news of the show came out. For example, the show was finally given a name. The spin-off is called Gen V.  A play on Generation Z and Compound V (which gives people powers).

There was also casting news this year as well. Actors like Patrick Schwarzenegger (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse), Shelley Conn (Bridgerton), and Sean Patrick Thomas (Barbershop) were announced to be part of the show.

In October, images were released of Sage (played by Susan Heyward) and Firecracker (Valorie Curry) in their uniforms on The Boys’ official Twitter page. Yet, there was still no preview or announcement on when Gen V would debut. That all changed thanks to the teaser below.

What was learned from The Boys Gen V trailer

No one should be shocked by the carnage in the trailer for Gen V. Amazon Prime’s The Boys is known for blood and gore. While it’s good to know that things like the action won’t change, that wasn’t the most important part of the trailer. Fans should be focusing on the depth, something else The Boys is known for. In less than two minutes, it’s easy to see how emotional Gen V will get.

Throughout the trailer, you could see Jaz Sinclair’s character going through a lot. She appears to have been beaten, abused and going through something traumatic. There are also other characters with blood coming from their eyes. That could be from their powers or someone actively hurting them. Either way, it’s not good. Especially since Vought International is running the competition.

It was reported that Gen V will take place while season 3 of The Boys was happening. That means the previous season will affect the show. For example, Jaz Sinclair being interviewed about what she went through could be due to Annie January (Starlight). After Herogasm, she told the world that supes (mainly The Seven) aren’t really heroes. Whether or not this works out for her, in the end, remains to be seen. Mainly because Homelander and Stormfront have amassed a huge backing.

Hopefully, Gen V will be another successful show for Amazon Prime. If it is, The Boys franchise can continue after the main show has concluded. Soldier Boy and Stormfront showed that supes have a dark and incredibly sinister past. Seeing what happened before the present would be intriguing. Even if it doesn’t have a happy ending. Or, maybe the show goes on well after Butcher, Annie, and Hughie have moved on. There are dozens of ways the franchise can continue. With the creative team this franchise has, the sky’s the limit.

The Gen V trailer announced that it will debut in 2023. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow for more news as it comes out.
