The Flash continues to raise the bar by featuring guest stars from across the Arrowverse in The CW show’s final season. Now, a familiar face from Supergirl will return.

The much anticipated ninth and final season of The Flash is continuing the trend of bringing pre-existing characters from the Arrowverse back for a final send-off, this time with Supergirl‘s Nia Nal/Dreamer, portrayed by Nicole Maines.

TV Insider revealed that Maines will reprise her role as the Human-Naltorian hero in a special episode of season 9. The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace stated the character was among “the ‘Arrowverse Bucket List’ of team-ups”. Nia is set to join forces with fellow investigative reporter, owner and editor-in-chief of The Central City Citizen Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) to investigate an incredibly “bizarre and frightening” case.

Dreamer is an original character created by Supergirl and made history as TV’s first ever transgender superhero. Following her early life being raised in a community where both aliens and humans embraced one another in a tight-knit community known as Parthas, she dreamt to seek life outside of her domain. After graduating with a degree in International Relations from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Nia eventually moved to National City as a reporter at CatCo Worldwide Media.

Not long after her mother’s death, Dreamer fought against the Children of Liberty, led by Ben Lockwood/Agent Liberty, in the fourth season of Supergirl. She eventually joined the rest of the Super Friends alongside Kara Danvers, becoming an integral part of the team through to the show’s conclusion after its sixth season.

The Flash season 9 stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton, Brandon McKnight, Jesse L. Martin, and Jon Cor.

Eric Wallace serves as showrunner and is executive producer alongside Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Bonanza Productions Inc. and Berlanti Productions produce the series in association with Warner Bros. Television.

The Flash season 9’s premiere is set to air Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at 8.00 p.m. ET on The CW. It will air new episodes weekly on Wednesdays leading into Kung Fu season 3.
