When is Superman and Lois returning in 2023?

Superman and Lois season 3 has been on the minds of fans since June. When does season 3 premiere on The CW in 2023?

It’s been quite a long time since Arrowverse and DC fans have had a new episode of Superman and Lois to look forward to. The series wrapped its second season in June, with a game-changing finale that saw the Man of Steel overcome the all-powerful Parasite Ally Allston and protect two worlds from her plan to merge them.

Since then, the show has never been far from fans’ minds, which may have been helped by the fact that it has been in the news quite regularly. The CW’s sale to Nexstar (and their plans to change it significantly) have resulted in constant fears about the future of Superman and Lois after season 3. Moreover, the departure of regular cast member Jordan Elsass meant that the show needed a new Jonathan Kent, who they found in Michael Bishop. And they also found their new villain as Chad L. Coleman will portray iconic DC Comics bad guy Bruno Mannheim.

Production on season 3 has been underway since September but when will the finished product actually hit screens?

Superman and Lois season 3 release date

Superman and Lois season 3 will premiere on The CW On Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. ET. That much we do know, so if you are concerned about whether or not there will be new episodes of the show, you can rest easy knowing that it is coming back for at least one more season.

As for why it didn’t premiere in the fall, that remains unclear, but it likely had something to do with the fact that production on season 3 wouldn’t commence until September and Superman and Lois has proven to be an incredibly successful midseason performer.

That said, given how both seasons of Superman and Lois have seen production delays that resulted in long hiatuses interrupting their runs, it’s not surprising that the network has opted to hold off its premiere until early Spring in order to ensure the cast and crew have enough episodes filmed, preventing any extensive hiatuses this time around.

The show will be accompanied by fellow DC TV series, Gotham Knights, which also premieres on March 14 right after Superman and Lois.
