Black Panther 2 is not coming to Disney Plus in 2022
Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever is the movie Marvel fans have been longing to see on Disney Plus. But don’t expect it this month (or this year).
It has now been over a month since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiered in movie theaters and proceeded to dominate the box office like all major Marvel movies do. The critically-acclaimed sequel paid homage to Chadwick Boseman and King T’Challa in a beautiful story that saw a new Black Panther rise to protect Wakanda.
For fans that haven’t seen it yet, they eagerly await its arrival on Disney Plus. However, if you’re hoping it will premiere on the service before the year finishes, we’re sorry to say that won’t be the case. Disney Plus recently released a quick promo trailer looking ahead at some of the titles that are coming in 2023 and it features clips from Loki season 2, Secret Invasion, and yes, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever .
As exciting as it was to see the movie featured among upcoming titles, it confirmed that it will not premiere in 2022, and thus, won’t arrive in December.
Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever Disney Plus release date predictions
The fact that Black Panther 2 won’t be premiering on Disney Plus before the end of the year is a little disheartening for fans hoping to see it for the first time over the holiday period, but it’s also not unexpected. The movie just released in movie theaters last month, so it was unlikely that it would make its streaming debut the month after that – even if a seasonal drop on Disney Plus would have likely been a well-timed release.
The earliest we can expect to see Wakanda Forever on the streamer would be January 2023. Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have a 45 – 70 day theatrical release window, so if Marvel Studios opts for the early end of that window when releasing Black Panther 2 to Disney Plus. it could premiere as early as the first week of January.
That said, they always announce the premiere of a new Marvel movie well in advance so that fans have the time to prepare for its debut, and the January listings for Disney Plus have already been released (with no sign of the sequel). With that in mind, don’t be surprised if Disney Plus and Marvel Studios decide to release it later in the month or even in February.
That is simply a prediction, so now we just wait for Marvel to officially announce the movie’s Disney Plus release.
