Riverdale season 7 is not coming to The CW in January 2023

There are some great shows coming to The CW at the top of the new year. Sadly, Riverdale season 7 will not be among those coming in January. 

The wait for new episodes of Riverdale is going to continue for at least another month it seems. As we look ahead to the first month of the new year, The CW has confirmed its schedule and there aren’t any changes ahead in the month of January.

While January will see the network’s fall shows returning from their holiday breaks, there is no current plan for Riverdale season 7 to arrive as part of the scheduling slate. While disappointing, it’s not too surprising as Riverdale was not on the fall schedule and The CW has a packed slate with its returning fall shows.

It would have been nice to see Riverdale finally return in January after being on a break since July, but the wait for new episodes shouldn’t be too much longer!

Does Riverdale season 7 have a release date?

Unfortunately, Riverdale season 7 has yet to receive a release date from The CW with it remaining unknown when the final season will premiere. It’s actually a bit odd that The CW has not announced when season 7 will arrive considering it has set premiere dates for several shows set to arrive in the early part of 2023 including The Flash, Superman & Lois, and Gotham Knights. 

When could Riverdale season 7 premiere?

It was expected that Riverdale would return sometime in early 2023 and that’s still a possibility. The CW has been announcing premiere dates in waves, so it’s possible we could see Riverdale finally get a premiere date in early January.

What seems most likely is that Riverdale will arrive sometime in late March 2023. This would still put the show in the window of “early 2023” and would be on pace for when season 6 began after its special five-episode Rivervale event in the fall. A March release date would likely mean new episodes would air into the summer, which would allow the show to wrap before the Fall 2023-24 season.
