Gotham Knights is set to make its presence felt on The CW in the future. When will it premiere on TV screens?

There’s a new Batman story in town. One that unfortunately won’t involve much Batman.

Gotham Knights is The CW‘s newest superhero show (and it could be its last if Nexstar truly moves the network in a new direction) and it has absolutely no ties to the DC video game of the same name. It does, however, have one similarity: Batman is dead and it’s up to a new generation of heroes to rise up and protect the city.

Focusing on Bruce Wayne’s adopted son Turner Hayes after the death of the Caped Crusader when he, and some of the children of Batman’s greatest enemies, are framed for the murder, they all form an unlikely alliance to clear their name. Can they save the city while they’re at it?

There’s been a lot of talk about whether Gotham Knights is or isn’t coming, so what’s the story?

Gotham Knights release date 2023

Gotham Knights is imminent. The CW has announced that the show will premiere on Tuesday, March 14, at 9:00 p.m. ET. It will air after the season 3 premiere of Superman and Lois, which could very well work in its favor as its fellow DC TV series is one of The CW’s two biggest shows. With that in mind, it’s pilot episode (and hopefully the rest of the season) could perform well.

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding every show on The CW right now. The network cancelled half of its programming slate in May 2022 (some of which were superhero shows) due to its sale to Nexstar, and now they have a new vision for the network, with programming geared towards older audiences. And a superhero-based series about young people might not be considered suitable for that demographic.

If it’s a ratings hit, however, a second season would be likely. After all, The CW needs content until it can complete its transition period, so if Gotham Knights is a success, it could be on that line-up for more seasons to come.
