Will The Last of Us air a new episode on HBO tonight? (February 10, 2022)
The Last of Us has been entertaining fans for over a month now. Can we expect it to air and release a new episode tonight?
The world has been enthralled by HBO’s The Last of Us in recent weeks. There was the expectation that this show would be one of the biggest of the year (particularly because it’s based on one of the most successful video game franchises of all time), but even then it has exceeded expectations.
Audiences have quickly connected with Joel and Ellie regardless of whether they played the video game or not, and that was clearer than ever after the response to the fourth episode. Now, all sights are set on episode 5, which will air this weekend.
However, there has been some confusion about when it will premiere and on what day. The reason that a Friday release date has entered the picture is down to the fact that the Super Bowl airs on Sunday night this week, which would undoubtedly be major competition for The Last of Us. So, yes, the show will stream tonight, two days earlier than usual, but will it also air on HBO?
Does The Last of Us air on HBO tonight?
If you’re hoping to watch The Last of Us live on TV tonight, we have some bad news: HBO won’t be airing it on Friday night. The good news is that episode 5, “Endure and Survive”, will be available tonight to stream for HBO Max subscribers and available to watch on HBO On Demand from 9:00 p.m. ET, 6:00 p.m. PT, and 8:00 p.m. CT.
The reason that the fifth episode will be made available to stream early is to give as many people the chance to watch it over the weekend before the Super Bowl will air on Sunday night. That way, it allows The Last of Us to perform well over a longer period of time instead of having its debut overshadowed by smaller numbers due to the amount of people watching the sporting phenomenon.
That said, if you would prefer to watch the show on HBO, episode 5 will still be broadcast on Sunday night in its typical timeslot on Sunday, February 12, at 9:00 p.m. ET, 6:00 p.m. PT, and 8:00 p.m. CT.
