Black Panther’s citizenship from Wakanda was revoked as Namor laughs. What’s next for T’Challa?

The Black Panther has been the hero of Wakanda since dinosaurs roamed the Earth (see Avengers 1 million B.C. for more on that). T’Challa is the most recent Black Panther. He’s also the one that’s taken their nation into the stars (in Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda). Unfortunately, T’Challa isn’t without his faults.

T’Challa makes a lot of decisions that blow up in his face: Working with Namor after Atlantis attacked Wakanda, joining the Avengers to spy on them, and the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda having alien slaves are all examples of his mistakes. T’Challa may have done them to make his nation better and he may have fixed the problems he caused, but they were still harmful errors.

In Black Panther No. 12, one of T’Challa’s sleeper agents took control of the internet and held the world hostage. T’Challa was already in bad standings with Wakanda, but his former spy almost setting the world back into the Stone Age made things worse. In order to get help, Wakanda made a deal with Atlantis. That deal included T’Challa no longer being a citizen of Wakanda. Of course, after hearing that Namor laughed.

Over the last decade, T’Challa has been taking a lot of losses. John Ridley’s Black Panther made things worse. The people of Wakanda lost faith in him and the Avengers don’t trust him. T’Challa even said that betraying Captain America is the greatest of his mistakes. This all seems bad, but there’s some good news. From here, T’Challa can’t go anywhere but up.

T’Challa will be involved in a few new series. First, there’s the upcoming Marvel Comics event Cold War, which will involve Wakanda. T’Challa may not be a citizen, but there’s no way he won’t still fight for his country. Second of all, the Black Panther will be part of the new Avengers team that Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) is leading. Lastly, the amazing Eve L. Ewing will be writing the next Black Panther series. All of this should lead to a new and better time for T’Challa. You can’t keep a good person down and T’Challa is one of the best.
