The Flash is on its way to movie theaters this summer and it will introduce a new Batman into the DCEU… or should we say an old Batman?

Barry Allen will travel through time to save his mother and prevent her death from ever happening. In doing so, he will create a rift in the timeline that will alter everything he has ever known. Yes, The Flash movie is nearly upon us and it will take its cues from the legendary DC Comics story Flashpoint.

After a teaser debuted back in 2021, the first main trailer made its presence felt at the Super Bowl LVII this weekend, and for those viewers who weren’t expecting it, seeing Batman might have been a bit of a surprise.

Was it because Ben Affleck normally plays the Dark Knight in the DCEU? Or was it because this “new” Batman looked oddly familiar?

Who plays Batman in The Flash movie?

Michael Keaton plays the primary Batman in The Flash movie, reprising the role for the first time in 30 years. The legendary Emmy-winning actor is best known for his performance as the Dark Knight in Tim Burton movies Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). From what we know about The Flash so far, it appears that Barry finds himself in Keaton’s Batman universe, and must rely on the veteran Caped Crusader to help save the world and get him back to his own timeline.

That said, Ben Affleck will also reprise his role as the DCEU’s Batman. We can’t confirm how big his role will be, but the theory is that he will appear at the beginning of the movie in a bid to talk Barry out of messing with the timeline.

We can’t wait to see both Caped Crusaders suit up one more time in The Flash, but we’d be lying if we said we didn’t get a little teary-eyed at seeing Keaton back in the Batsuit.
