The Flash movie is hitting theaters this summers and hopes are high. It seems that it’s for good reason too, as DC writers tell fans it’s incredible.

2023 may be the year of The Flash. On the same year that his incredibly successful long-running TV series will wrap up its ninth and final season, the Scarlet Speedster will star in his very own DCEU blockbuster movie on the big screen. It won’t be Grant Gustin that plays the role, but Ezra Miller, who previously played the character in films such as Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeSuicide Squad, and Justice League(s).

The character’s cinematic solo feature has been in the works for almost a decade, but it’s only now that it’s actually happening. Multiple delays and director departures prevented it from coming to fruition, and then when it did, the controversy surrounding Miller’s troubles with the law and the restructuring at DC delayed its release.

But the wait may be worth it, because according to veteran comic book and DC writers, it’s going to be “incredible”.

The Flash movie is going to be incredible, says comic book writers

Comic book writers Jeff Lanzing and Collin Kelly recently spoke with ComicBook.com about The Flash movie, telling listeners that they have heard a lot about the movie that few people actually know and that it will “blow minds”. Lanzing commented:

"“I think that if even half the stuff I’ve heard is true, from people who should know… Insane. Complete madness. But I also hear the movie is like, incredible.”"

This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard positive word-of-mouth about The Flash movie. Earlier reports suggested that it had received the best response from a fan-screening since The Dark Knight (which is widely considered one of the comic book genre’s best ever movies). It’s all been somewhat effective in rebuilding excitement for a project that fans have struggled to get behind.

Between the lengthy wait for The Flash, the residual anger over Warner opting for a different actor to play the title role than Gustin, Ezra Miller’s actions over the past year, and the cancellation of some really anticipated DC projects, there has been some controversy surrounding The Flash. But these comments, and the recent release of the film’s trailer at the Super Bowl have managed to turn things around somewhat.

It’s a good thing for DC Studios too, because that movie is a necessary piece of the “reset” of the DC Universe James Gunn and Peter Safran are overseeing. This was already teased when the Super Bowl trailer gave us our first look at the new world Barry Allen creates – a world that features Michael Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl as its only other heroes.

The Flash movie arrives in theaters on June 16, 2023.
