Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs. Street Fighter: Who would win? (as voted by fans)

With IDW pitting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles against the Street Fighters, Bam Smack put the winners to a vote. 

The announcement that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be fighting characters from Street Fighter in an IDW comic book was shocking. Like any other series where heroes collide, a conversation of who wins will come up. This was no different. It may have been even more popular since these two are among the most recognized in their genres.

As of now, the only definite fight is between Raphael and Guile. However, the cover of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs Street Fighter shows Chun Li vs Michelangelo, Donatello vs Ken Masters, and Ryu vs Leonardo. Jennika (the Ninja Turtle in the yellow bandana) is on the cover as well, but she doesn’t have an opponent on the cover (there’s no way she won’t later). Since those appear like the matchups, Bam Smack Pow put the fights to a vote on our Instagram stories for fans to decide. Here are the results.

Raphael vs Guile

Vote: Raphael wins by 88%

Some votes are one sided, but this was something else. Raphael is this writer’s favorite Ninja Turtle and it looks like other people love him as well. However, as much as he agrees with the masses, this is the one fight that will probably go in the other direction.

It’s like wrestling. Some losses aren’t going to ruin a star’s reputation. It’s why Chris Jericho or John Cena lose fights they should win. It won’t matter to their fans. They’ll still be well liked. This is what might happen here. Guile needs this victory more than Raphael even though Raph should win. Look for the fight to have some shenanigans involved.

Chun Li vs Michelangelo

Vote: Michelangelo by 65%

These two competitors have a couple things in common. Both of them are underrated in their respective genres and they’re both known for their speed. That being said, there are two major differences and they fall in Chun Li’s favor. She’s more disciplined and more experienced. This is why this writer thought she’d win the fight. Fans disagreed. If Michelangelo doesn’t showboat, they’ll be right. If he does, Chun Li is going to lightning kick him until he falls. If you’ve fought someone in Street Fighter, you know it’s a possibility.

Shredder vs Bison

Vote: Shredder by 77%

There was no doubt in this writer’s mind which direction this fight would go. Bison may have his Psycho power, but this is Oroku Saki. He can take on the Ninja Turtles by himself and win. He’s also beaten Batman (granted, it’s a different universe). This fight hasn’t been announced, but we can guess that it’s going to happen. The only Street Fighter who makes more sense to fight Shredder is Akuma.

Donatello vs Ken Masters

Vote: Donatello by 59%

This fight was closer than expected. It also went in the opposite direction. Would Ken’s Street Fighter dragon-uppercut be enough to defeat Donatello and his bo-staff? Fans voted on the side of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This was the closest of all the fights that was voted on. This writer disagrees, but has a feeling he’ll be wrong.

Ryu vs Leonardo

Vote: Leonardo by 52%

This is the fight people really want to see. The leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles versus the most popular Street Fighter. The fans picked Leonardo to win this fight and you’ll get no arguments from this writer. Especially if Leo can use his katanas. However, this writer thinks the 7% of voters who voted that it would be a tie will be right here. It makes the most sense.

Nevertheless, no matter what the outcome is, this is the brawl fans will be waiting for.
